John Brooks decides that’s enough and Newcastle have stunned Arsenal to claim all three points!
It’s a huge result for the home side but disaster for the Gunners. One point from three games now…
Arsenal are trailing Newcastle United 1-0 in what could prove to be a pivotal Premier League showdown.
Alexander Isak’s brilliant header gave the Magpies an early lead at St. James’ Park in Saturday’s early kick-off, with the Gunners looking flat and chasing the game.
Arsenal, buoyed by the return of William Saliba from suspension and Gabriel Magalhaes from injury, are aiming to close the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool in the title race.
As for Newcastle, Eddie Howe is relieved that Isak and Anthony Gordon have overcome ‘niggling injuries’ to make the starting XI as they look to move into the top half of the table.

90+4 mins: So close to a late equaliser!
Arsenal work it down the right and Saka’s cross finds Rice at the far post. It’s a close range header but he doesn’t get it right and goes wide!
90+3 mins: TNT Sports name left-back Lewis Hall as player of the match. Deserved.
90 mins: We’ll have five minutes of injury time. Nwaneri tries to be a hero but his shot from outside the box sails over the crossbar.
88 mins: Yellow card – Jorginho
Jorginho’s first action is to get booked for fouling Guimaraes. Not quite the instant impact Arteta was looking for.
87 mins: One last roll of the dice from Arteta. Thomas Partey is off and Jorginho is on.
Fresh from the bench, Barnes does well to send in a cross for Joelinton but the Brazilian can’t beat Raya with his header.
85 mins: Arsenal have had just eight shots and one on target. Gordon (cleanly) wipes out Jesus in the box to keep it that way.
It’s the England star’s last action. He makes way for Harvey Barnes.
80 mins: 10 minutes to go plus injury time. Newcastle seem content to sit back and play this one out though Eddie Howe doesn’t, barking orders on the sideline.
Arsenal still haven’t got out of first gear.
76 mins: And now a big problem for Newcastle. Nick Pope has gone down and is getting treatment on his thigh from the medical team.
It looks like he’ll continue for now.
74 mins: Concern for Arsenal as Saka goes down in a lot of discomfort. He’s up now but replays show he landed awkwardly after a challenge from Gordon.
71 mins: Yellow card – Sandro Tonali.
The sub is in the book for hacking down a countering Kai Havertz.
Mikel Arteta makes more subs: Jesus and White on, Trossard and Timber off.
69 mins: Arsenal have improved since the subs were made but not by much. Trossard, unmarked from a corner, has a shot blocked.
Gabriel Jesus is being readied to come on as the Magpies have a corner.
66 mins: Yellow card – Jurrien Timber
Pope punches the corner clear and as Newcastle counter, Timber lunges in on Sandro Tonali who just came on a sub for Willock. He’s rightfully booked.
64 mins: Two big chances down both ends!
Isak nearly doubles Newcastle’s lead but Raya makes a big save to deny the Swede.
Arsenal counter and Rice’s effort deflects just wide of the post. Corner.
62 mins: Yellow card – Joe Willock
After a quiet first 45 minutes, Willock has been in the thick of it after the break. He’s booked for taking down Nwaneri.
61 mins: Arsenal sub: Zinchenko and Nwaneri on, Merino and Martinelli off
The Gunners need a moment of magic to save the game. Time for the wonderkid Nwaneri?
57 mins: Yellow card – Mikel Merino
More frustration on show from Arsenal as Merino is booked for a poor foul on Guimaraes.
Just before Trossard escaped a yellow despite gently rugby tackling Willock.
52 mins: As it stands, Newcastle will move up to eighth in the table.
Arsenal will stay third but if Man City beat Bournemouth later they’ll be eight points behind the Premier League leaders.
Back on the pitch, Trossard wins a corner but it comes to nothing.
50 mins: Here’s a curious stat. The ball was only in play for 22 minutes during the first-half.
Arsenal love a bit of time wasting but that’s not going to help them right now.
46 mins: And we’re off again! A big second-half for Arsenal gets off to a poor start as former Gunner Joe Willock is played through and has a glorious opportunity to double Newcastle’s lead.
He shoots straight at David Raya…
