Ogoh Odaudu, head coach of Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club of Port Harcourt on Wednesday said that the team is fully prepared ahead of the 2024 Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) men’s Premier League.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the team has been training for over a month and would stop at nothing to make the final four in the highly competitive Atlantic Conference.
“We are very confident of a good outing when the competition begins on Oct. 25, we are not perturbed about the challenge from other teams.
“We have a good team and reliable hands who have blended well during our training, so all efforts to make the final four from the Atlantic Conference are in top gear.
“We have even brought in two new players to beef up our defence and attacking options as we don’t want to be found wanting in these areas,”Odaudu said.
According to Odaudu, Rivers Hoopers recently competed in the just concluded Chief of Defence Staff Independence Basketball Championship which was held in Abuja and came out as champions.
“We are very confident ahead of the championship and fully aware of the task before us, we are just going to take one game at a time.
“We have tested hands that have blended well and are capable of going all the way in the competition.
“Our ultimate aim is to make the final four and participate in the national final 8.,” Odaudu said.
16 teams will compete in the Savannah and Atlantic conferences scheduled to dunk-off from Oct. 25 to Nov. 3.
The Savannah Conference will take place in Jos, Plateau State, while the Atlantic Conference is billed for Benin, Edo State.
The top four teams from each conference will advance to the Final 8 tournament scheduled to take place from Nov. 13 to Nov. 19, while the champion will represent Nigeria at the 2025 Basketball Africa League. (NAN).
