Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
It will be interesting to see what the market makes of Dan Skelton’s new recruit Beau Quali, who came second on his hurdling debut in France in March, but the most obvious answer is FARLAND, who makes his hurdling bow after three promising bumper runs. Fairly useful Flat racer Tuxedo Junction is next on the list.
A fiendishly competitive sprint handicap. Vantheman, Enchanting, Brooklyn Nine Nine and Duran all have plenty to recommend them but this could rest between Trilby and WEN MOON. The former hasn’t finished improving yet, and still appeals as being well handicapped, but Wen Moon, who won this race last year off a 4lb higher mark, has optimum conditions and his last two runs are easily excused.
The suggestion is GOOD BOY BOBBY, who is back down to a good mark for this seasonal debut, and can repeat his success from this race a year ago. Course specialist Wayfinder has become very unreliable, but arrives here fresh and may provide the main threat. Francky Du Berlais will find this tougher than the four-runner Market Rasen race he dominated a fortnight ago, but he might have a fitness edge and is next on the list.
The most likely improvers seem to be BRIONI (nap), Mount Atlas (second choice) and Kildare Legend. The last two have already tried 1m 4f and won but Brioni may hold too much potential for them, because he’s given his first crack at the trip, and there is plenty to suggest it will suit him. There’s less to suggest it will suit Due To Henry, but he still needs respect, while Kamboo might bounce back from his poor show on soft ground at Ascot.
