New York’s first win of the season will, for the time being, prevent the Giants from going into any panic-selling mode. However, they may still consider moving pass-rusher Azeez Ojulari, who will be a free agent in 2025.
The 2021 second-round pick had eight sacks as a rookie and another 5.5 sacks in 2022 but has fallen out of the game plan over the last two years—he did spend four games on injured reserve with an ankle injury last season.
Ojulari had just 2.5 sacks in 2023, and while he did record a sack against Cleveland, he’s only played 38 percent of the defensive snaps this year. With Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns now at the center of the Giants’ pass rush, Ojulari probably isn’t in their long-term plans.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be a logical landing spot for the 24-year-old. They have their eyes on another NFC South title this season but could use a defensive boost, especially on the edge.
No team has recorded fewer sacks this season than the Buccaneers, who have two.
The Atlanta Falcons could also use Ojulari’s help. Though they did trade for Matthew Judon just before the start of the season, their pass rush remains mediocre.
Atlanta has just one more sack than the Buccaneers, and by targeting Ojulari, it could ensure he doesn’t go to a division rival.
