New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his three-day visit to the United States, had a roundtable meeting with top tech industry leaders. He met with various industry leaders in fields like semiconductors, electronics, and biotechnology. During the meeting, PM Modi’s discussions centered around India’s potential and the opportunities it offers.
Notable participants at the CEO roundtable included Shantanu Narayen, Chairman and CEO of Adobe; Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google; Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBM; Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD; and Noubar Afeyan, Chairman of Moderna.
In a social media post, PM Modi said, “Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing aspects relating to technology, innovation, and more. I am glad to see immense optimism towards India.”
Following the meeting, Sundar Pichai highlighted the synergy between Google’s efforts and India’s technological ambitions, saying, “This aligns with the Digital India vision. Prime Minister Modi urged us to keep designing and manufacturing in India, and we are proud that our Pixel phones are now made here.”
Pichai also reaffirmed Google’s commitment to expanding AI in India, stating, “We are proud to partner with India. We are making significant investments in AI here and are eager to do more. Several programs and partnerships are already underway.”
Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, shared his thoughts after meeting Prime Minister Modi, stating, “PM Modi is an incredible student. Every time I meet him, he wants to learn more about technology.” He emphasized the potential of artificial intelligence, saying, “AI is a new industry, and I am looking forward to partnering with India in a deep way.” Huang mentioned that Nvidia is collaborating with various companies, start-ups, and IITs in India. He concluded by noting, “AI truly democratizes computing, and this is India’s moment.”
The leaders also welcomed progress since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last November to enhance innovation ecosystems under the “Innovation Handshake” agenda. Since then, they have held two industry roundtables to connect startups, venture capital firms, and government officials, promoting investment in innovation.
On Sunday, PM Modi addressed a large gathering of the Indian community in New York. On the first day of his visit, he participated in the fourth Quad Leaders’ Summit, agreeing to host the next summit in India in 2025.
