Those who purchased the deluxe version of EA Sports’ College Football 25 have been playing the game for nearly a week now. For those of us who just purchased the regular version, it’s been an exhilarating weekend so far. With Donovan Edwards as a one of the cover athletes, we knew Michigan would be well-represented in the game — what are your initial impressions?
Today I’m going to give my top five most fun players on the Michigan roster to play with in the game.
In real life, Orji is very much untested as a passer, so I was fascinated to see how EA rated his passing skills. It turns out, he was given better throw power and accuracy ratings than I expected. Orji is a lethal runner as expected so the combination of his power, size, and throwing ability makes him electric to play with. Mobile quarterbacks make playing the game so much more fun.
Unsurprisingly, lightning quick receivers make for good video game moments. The Michigan offensive playbook is littered with end arounds and reverses which makes it easy to keep Morgan involved — not to mention he can easily take the top off the defense on some deep routes. In just about every game I’ve played so far he’s led the Wolverines in receptions and receiving yards.
Graham is being hailed as a Preseason All-American type in both real life and in College Football 25. At a position that some video game players tend to “hide” on defense so as not to get burned for a touchdown, Graham is truly an impact player. I’ve had no trouble beating double-teams and getting to the quarterback. From the DT spot, that’s a rarity.
I was somewhat surprised at EA’s ranking disparity between Stewart and Derrick Moore. The game rated Stewart significantly higher than Moore despite similar output on the field last season. With that being said, Stewart is a monster in the game as teams tend to focus on stopping Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. Off the edge, Stewart has the bend and pass rush moves to wreak havoc on opposing offenses.
While I never start a play locked onto a defensive back, Johnson has proven to be the most electric player in College Football 25 in my first few days of playing. The highest-rated player in the game, Johnson consistently hauled in interceptions for my team. In my very first game Johnson somehow returned three interceptions for touchdowns despite playing on All-American mode; he saved the team.
