No safety has more All-Pro selections since 2019 than Pittsburgh Steelers’ star Minkah Fitzpatrick (3).
And while the former first-round pick was riddled with injuries last season that caused him to miss seven games, he is still one of the best in the NFL at his position. Jared Dubin of CBS Sports agrees, and ranked Fitzpatrick as the No. 3 safety in the league in his top 20 safeties list.
“This next group is on a different level than most other safeties,” Dubin wrote. “Even with Fitzpatrick missing some time last year, he still found a way to make an impact at all three levels of the defense. After beginning his career as a corner, he still has some of the best coverage abilities of any safety, and he is a turnover-forcing machine both deep down the field and close to the line of scrimmage.”
With a new running mate in DeShon Elliott, and hopefully a clean bill of health throughout the season, Fitzpatrick can prove that he is still one of the game’s best while (hopefully) helping the Steelers get back to the posteason.
