Perth has been ranked as the fifteenth-most liveable city in the world and the seventh-most liveable city in Asia, according to a new report from Economist Intelligence.
The Global Livability Index 2024 has ranked 173 cities across five categories: stability, healthcare, education, culture and the environment, and infrastructure.
The infrastructure scores for Australian cities across the board were downgraded this year, owing to an ongoing housing crisis that has led to an all-time low availability of rental properties in many of the cities.
Perth has the lowest availability of rental properties in Australia with a vacancy rate of just 0.4. A healthy vacancy rate is considered to be around 3 per cent.
Other Asian cities outside of Australia to make the top 10 list included Osaka, Auckland, Tokyo, Wellington and Singapore.
Globally, the most-liveable cities were Vienna, in Austria, Copenhagen in Denmark and Zurich in Switzerland.
