It is late June — the slow period for NFL news — and while many within the Miami Dolphins’ fan base have warm and fuzzy feelings when it comes to their squad, the folks at Pro Football Talk aren’t as high on the team ahead of the start of training camps around the league.
In a recent ranking of all NFL teams pre-training camp, the polarizing Mike Florio lists the Miami Dolphins outside of the top-ten teams — slotting them in as the 11th best team in the National Football League as things currently stand.
Here’s what Florio had to say about the Dolphins and their ranking:
“Whether they can win in the postseason will depend on whether they can consistently win late in the regular season.”
Florio doesn’t elaborate on his reasoning here, but one can look at recent late season, injury-fueled collapses which have cost the Dolphins division titles which, in turn, have cost Miami home playoff games — the most recent example being last season’s Super Wild Card weekend loss to the Kansas City Chiefs played in minus-27 degree weather when factoring wind chill.
Florio’s top-ten pre-camp teams are as follows:
Even Florio himself recognizes that pre-camp power rankings are “meaningless,” but with real NFL action still months away, at least they give us something to talk about.
