DP World, a logistics company, has announced its plans to expand their partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Back in mid-2023, DP World initially joined hands with the ICC as a second-tier partner, focusing on logistics support. However, they have now advanced to become the top-tier partner.
“DP World and the ICC have worked closely together since partnering in June 2023, helping to deliver cricket equipment at the grassroots level and provide smart logistics at pinnacle ICC events. DP World now moves into the premier partner tier of the ICC’s portfolio, re-affirming the brand’s long-term commitment and mission to growing the sport around the world,” as an official release explained.
This development comes just before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup. Notably, DP World played a crucial role in assisting the ICC with logistics, particularly in transporting pitches for a the ICC tournament held for the first time in the USA.
In addition to transporting pitches, DP World will now also handle the transportation of match balls for each game in T20 World Cup, along with overseeing the trophy tour that brings the silverware to the event. This extended contract is set to last until 2027.
June 2 marks a historic day as the USA faces Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium. It’s the first time a North American country is hosting a major ICC event.
The USA, along with the West Indies, is hosting the ICC T20 World Cup. Additionally, the USA is set to host the next Olympics and the FIFA World Cup as well.
This tournament is particularly significant for the USA as it marks their debut in an ICC event. On the other hand, their opponents Canada have previously participated in the ODI World Cup.
