A 20-year-old man allegedly doing doughnuts with his car in Top Golf’s parking lot was arrested after fleeing from police responding to reports of reckless activity, authorities said.
El Paso Police Department officers responded to reports of a 2002 White Chevrolet Camaro driven by Tye Mora committing a “reckless activity” about 10 p.m. Friday, May 24, in the Top Golf parking lot at 365 Vin Rambla Drive in West El Paso, police officials said.
Mora of El Paso was allegedly doing doughnuts in the parking lot and “endangering several pedestrians that had gathered in the parking lot of Top Golf,” officials said.
Officers arrived at the parking lot and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Camaro. Mora allegedly refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.
Officers later found Mora and arrested him on suspicion of evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail Saturday, May 25, on a $15,000 bond, jail records show. He was released the same day after posting bail, jail logs show.
“The El Paso Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community,” police said in a news release. “We urge the public to report any reckless or dangerous activities immediately.”
