Apple has signed an agreement with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT on iPhones with iOS 18. Apple, based in Cupertino, California, has reportedly been in negotiations with Google and OpenAI, led by Sam Altman, for the integration of chatbot functionality in iOS 18. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple has ‘ultimately closed the deal’ with OpenAI. Previous leaks have indicated that Apple is building its own on-device Ajax AI model to analyze text, provide intelligent responses, and generate summaries. Therefore, it is logical to expect ChatGPT, as well as other OpenAI tools, to be used for heavy-duty tasks such as lengthy text analysis and image generation.
