New Delhi: Despite a remarkable performance in the Indian Premier League 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad lethal batter Travis Head has said that Test cricket remains atop his priority and till the time he is playing that, he will limit his participation in the T20 leagues.
Head has been instrumental in SRH’s run in the premier event as he has taken the IPL by storm displaying a world-class hitting prowess. The ruthless batter, however, failed to make a mark in the Qualifier 1 against Kolkata Knight Riders, which Hyderabad lost by 8 wickets. In the 13 games played till now, the Australian hard-hitting batter has scored 533 runs, with a best score of 102.
Meanwhile, he has said that he will limit his participation in the T20 Leagues to just two events per year and not entirely focus on the shortest format. Head has proved that in the past one year after sensational centuries in the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup final against India.
“This has been the first year in IPL for me in quite a while since 2017. I would put all my eggs in Test basket for the moment, I will continue to do that,” Head told PTI during an exclusive interview organised by Prime Video ahead of their upcoming docu-series, ‘The Test Season 3′, featuring the Australian team’s tour of England last year.
“After Tests, I will pick formats, and see in which different ways I am available for selection,” he added. T20 events have mushroomed across the world with some like West Indies’ Andre Russell and Sunil Narine appearing in multiple events, adding up to more than five a year.
Having said that, Head also mentioned that he is very much keep to participate in the Indian Premier League next year as well.
