The Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets are back in action for Game 5 of their second-round matchup in the 2024 NBA Playoffs, with the winner grabbing a 3-2 edge in the series. The road team has won every game so far but the defending champs are heading back home where they went 33-8 during the regular season. At some point, that level of performance should kick in. Minnesota lost for the first time in these playoffs in Game 3 and didn’t have enough juice in Game 4, which has stifled some of the momentum the team had built up. Tuesday’s contest sets up the chance for one of these teams to close things out, and we’ll see which one rises to the occasion in what has been a great series so far.
Here’s a look at some of our favorite player prop bets to target for Game 5 Tuesday, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
There’s some risk here because Towns could easily get into foul trouble and have to sit for key portions of the game. The Timberwolves big man has talked about how he’s changed the game but now it’s time to show it. Towns went over this mark in Games 1 and 2 but quickly fell off in Games 3 and 4. The talent is there but the consistency is not in this series. I do think Towns rediscovers some of his shooting touch in Game 5 and goes over this line.
Denver’s point guard has experienced something similar to Towns, although it was in reverse order. It’s hard to say whether Murray will keep up his efficiency at home, especially since he’s been struggling for much of these playoffs. However, he has been impactful defensively over the last three games and has gone over this line each time. I think Murray keeps contributing on that side of the ball, even if his shot isn’t falling in Game 5.
Gobert has gone over this mark in two of the three games this series, logging 14 rebounds in Game 4 most recently. The big man does have some competition from Towns and Anthony Edwards but he’s largely been holding his own in the paint. Gobert went over this line in all three regular-season games he played against the Nuggets as well, so we can think of his under on this line in Game 3 as an outlier.
At some point, Gordon is going to start reverting back to his 29% clip from deep during the regular season. The Timberwolves are daring him to shoot and leaving him more open than usual, which Gordon has taken advantage of. He’s shooting 72.7% from the perimeter over the last three games after missing his lone attempt in Game 1. The Nuggets forward is +270 to make 2+ triples, but volume remains an issue as he’s only attempting 3.7 shots from deep per game. I do think he’ll be able to hit at least one Tuesday night.
