Two tick over trials since have been strong, Bowman sticks and this isn’t a deep contest.

$SP.00) is racing well at the moment and commands respect. He was a track/distance winner two back before going to Sha Tin when trying hard but just found one better in Fire Ball. Back to Happy Valley with a kind map, he rates highly.

Long Shot

10 Podium (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) is racing like a rise in trip will suit. He ran over 1400m at Sha Tin last start when back near last in the run but made up good headway in the straight when fourth. Racing like he wants further, which he gets here, and if within range, he has the finale to take this out.

$SP.00) is knocking on the door to win and I think he gets a great chance here. He has been kept on ice, having not raced since Nov 27 when second at this track/distance, chasing with purpose from off the speed but just found one better in Gallant Valour. Blinkers go on, two strong trials since, ideal map…happy to be in his corner.

11 Affirm (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) should be around the mark. Son of Choisir that hasn’t won in eighteen starts but has been pretty solid for the most part. Latest run was four weeks ago at this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and giving a solid kick but found one better in Sight Happy. Looked good in a tick over trial and despite the draw, will press forward and take running down.

Long Shot

3 Prime Mortar (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) has a great track/distance record so I think dismiss him at your peril. He ran over this track/distance two weeks back, his first run in a few weeks, and was just on the fair side in defeat I thought behind Northern Fire Ball. His best is good enough so don’t pen him just yet.

$SP.00) is humming for Frankie Lor and seems the straight bat play here. He has won two on the bounce, both at this track/distance. Latest was on Boxing Day where he gave them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to win and win well. He’s flying and is hard to beat once again.

2 Mighty Commander (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) is dangerous with his best. He ran over 1400m at Sha Tin on International Day where he got off speed and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat I thought. Depth here not as deep, he rates highly.

8 Apolar Fighter (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 1800m last time in the Centenary Cup where he was near last in the run but couldn’t get involved, finishing down the track. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he can take this out.

$SP.00) should be taking care of these if he runs up to the last start win, which came at this track/distance where he lobbed into a beaut spot just off the speed. Just a matter of pushing the button and once Purton did, away he went and he was dominant. He looks the winner once again.

$SP.00) is dangerous if within range on the turn. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line and was quite good in defeat I thought behind View Of The World. If within range, he has the finale to be quite dangerous.

2 Brave Joy (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) should be better for the debut run, which came over this track/distance four weeks back where he was a bit raw/new to the caper and was never really a factor. Has an inside gate to use once again and with that run under the belt, he’s an improver at odds.

$SP.00) for me. John Size trained gelding that had trialled up well enough prior to debuting over this trip at Sha Tin where he got off the speed but kept finding the line in an encouraging debut behind Super Legends. Better for the run under the belt and seems to have found another winnable race.

2 Circuit Duffy (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) has to be given another look. All three career outings have come at this track/distance, winning two back before a plain run four weeks ago here after sitting on speed. It was plain enough for Zac to say no and ride Spirit Of Peace but off the win the start prior, that was good enough to give this race a shake.

11 Ka Ying Power (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) isn’t racing too bad at present. Latest run was four weeks back at this track/distance where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line in a good effort. Tricky draw, but if within range, he can threaten at odds.

$SP.00) is bursting to break the maiden status and I think he gets his chance here. He ran over this track/distance on Boxing Day and was one of the eye catchers of the meeting, closing off with purpose from near last behind The Azure. That was his first run in five weeks so with upside/improvement, he takes beating.

10 Firefoot (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) commands respect. He is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Good Luck Win. Tick over trial since was quite good and good lead that Purton is booked.

Long Shot

6 Perpetual Power (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. He debuted over 1200m at Sha Tin behind Super Legends where he got a fair way out of his ground and was never a factor when down the track. The rise in trip suits and has less convictions than most.

If coming back to 1800m is fine, then good luck beating 2 Five G Patch (Bet Now: 
$SP.00). Far from disgraced behind Romantic Warrior in the Jockey Club Cup before going to the Vase where he got a fair way out of his ground but worked home well enough in defeat I thought. He is the class factor and with a soft gate, massive drop in grade/depth, he’s the one for me.

1 Happy Together (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) won this race last year and looks to be ticking along nicely to defend his crown. He comes through the Hong Kong Mile where he was outclassed in the end but I thought he ran very well in defeat behind Voyage Bubble. Saves his best for this track, he should be around the mark. Just might bump into a better horse.

7 Helene Feeling (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) is another that tends to save his best for Happy Valley and is dangerous at odds. He ran over the mile at Sha Tin last time out where he got a fair way out of his ground and worked home well enough without threatening. Not sure he wins, but is a must for exotics.

$SP.00) can bounce back into the winners list. He was 2/2 to start the prep before going to this track/distance five weeks ago when back in the run and made up headway without threatening when fifth. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he’ll take beating.

$SP.00) is dangerous. He ran on Boxing Day at this track/distance when back near last in the run and although he did make up ground, he was never really a threat in defeat. If he can settle closer in the run, his best is good enough to win.

9 Happy Fat Cat (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) has raced at Sha Tin his past couple and is racing like returning to Happy Valley can spark improvement. Latest run was on Dec 29 when back in the run and failed to get involved when down the track. If the inside gate can be used to advantage, he can be a threat at a big price.

$SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps in the get out. He ran over the mile here two weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground and was never really threatening behind impressive winner Romantic Laos. Has a jockey upgrade and an inside gate to use. Each way for me.

$SP.00) comes here with relatively fresh legs for Tony Cruz, having not raced since International Day at Sha Tin. He was ridden with intent early under Avdulla and the end result was a dominant win. First look at this track but he has a good racing style and strikes a winnable race.

Long Shot

3 Samarkand (Bet Now: 
$SP.00) hasn’t raced since Dec 4 over the mile here. He got into a decent spot on speed and he tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when fifth to Soleil Fighter. Loves racing here, proven at the track/distance and the tick over trial was good.
