San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is one of the top receivers in the NFL and he’s only getting better.
Growing up, he modeled his game off of NFL legends, and he revealed his top five wide receivers of all time on The Pivot Podcast on Friday. Aiyuk said he considers Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Jerry Rice, Antonio Brown and Julio Jones to be the five best pass catchers in NFL history.
Moss, Owens and Rice all have resumes that speak for themselves, but including Brown and Jones is a bit more surprising. Aiyuk said his justification for Brown comes from the way nobody could stop him on the field.
“You can’t stop him. It might not look like the new game, how it is now, but you can’t stop him,” Brown said (34:28 mark). “However he wants to get it done, he’s going to get it done. I watched him and Julio Jones, those were two of my favorite receivers to watch.”
Aiyuk will look to continue climbing the list of all-time great receivers next season. He’s coming off a year where he had a career-high 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, helping lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance. If he can keep improving this year, there will be no denying he’s one of the best receivers in the league.
But Aiyuk still has some things to figure out this offseason before he begins the year. He’s currently in the middle of contract negotiations with the 49ers, and the two sides are looking to reach a deal soon to keep him around.
