Back Me
3 Subsequent (Bet Now: $5.00) is the way I am going in the opener. Andrew Balding trained gelding that comes here off the back of a win at Salisbury when just off the speed and was one paced when initially asked for the effort but he kept finding and ended up being strongest to the line in winning. He’ll eat up 2400m at Goodwood and is on an upward spiral.
Danger
2 Lord Of Love (Bet Now: $6.50) is heading in the right direction for Team Gosden. Loved the way he finished his race off to win at Newmarket last time, getting back but tracked with purpose before angling clear and went through the gears to win nicely, albeit a narrow margin. Good test here, but confident he measures up.
Long Shot
6 Gallantly (Bet Now: $11.00) can bounce back for Aidan O’Brien. This guy was outclassed at Royal Ascot but I am being forgiving given he was doing too much work in the run and was a beaten horse at the top of the straight. The win prior at Chester was very good and in a good camp, so not dismissing him.
Back Me
7 Jaabara (Bet Now: $3.50) for me. She comes back to 1400m after racing over the mile in the Falmouth at Group l level at Newmarket and she tried her guts out on speed but just found 1600m a bridge too far when second to Porta Fortuna. Good racing style and back in trip, she takes beating.
Danger
8 Kathmandu (Bet Now: $4.40) comes back to the UK after racing at Group l level in France at Deauville when near the speed throughout and though she was safely held late, she stayed on and was solid enough in defeat behind Puchkine. She does have a touch of quality about her and commands respect for mine.
Long Shot
5 Pretty Crystal (Bet Now: $12.00) is suited up in trip after resuming over 1200m at York in the Summer Stakes. She was on speed throughout and she just found them a bit sharp, feeling the pinch late in the piece behind Flora Of Bermuda. Has a good record at 1400m and I think will be better suited with a more patient steer.
Back Me
7 King’s Call (Bet Now: $17.00) has to rise sharply in grade/depth, but I think he goes pretty good and at the odds, he’s worth a speck each way. He debuted over 1200m at Ayr when leading throughout and was trucking before being clicked up. What I liked is that he responded under pressure and was very strong to the line in winning. Back in trip is a query, but he’ll be strong late and seemingly has a good racing style.
Danger
1 Aesterius (Bet Now: $3.00) has done little wrong in a three start career for the Watson camp. Far from disgraced in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot before going to the Dragon Stakes at Sandown when on speed and was bolting. He put pay to them quickly and was impressive. Hard to beat, even with the impost.
Long Shot
3 Big Mojo (Bet Now: $20.00) is one I can entertain for exotics. He debuted over 1000m at Beverley when on speed and wide, but seemed to move well and tried hard, but had no answers late. That said, he stayed on and was good in defeat to run second. Not sure he is good enough to win but can run top four.
Back Me
6 Rosallion (Bet Now:
$SP.00) looks to pick himself I feel. Super win in the Irish 2000 Guineas two back before going to the St James’ Palace where he got a 12/10 steer and finished best for an impressive win. He’s flying this guy and this race, seemingly, is no harder. Short enough but clearly the one to beat.
Danger
5 Notable Speech (Bet Now: $2.60) can bounce back. He put his unbeaten record on the line in the St James’ Palace. He seemingly had every chance in the run but was very poor in the straight, safely held late by Rosallion. If he runs up to his 2000 Guineas win at Newmarket, he’s dangerous.
Long Shot
2 Maljoom (Bet Now: $8.00) looks a big price I feel. He comes through the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot where he was back with cover before angling wider and although he lacked decent change up speed, he kept finding the line and was good in defeat. Not sure he has the class, but I think could be a knockout hope with a more positive steer and make this a 1600m test.
Back Me
9 Power Of Destiny (Bet Now: $4.00) is the way I am leaning. Sir Michael Stoute trains this filly, who ran over this trip at Nottingham last time out. He tracked the tempo and when let down, she looked all over the winner but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Blessed Honour, who I think is a good horse. No horse of that quality here, I don’t think, so she is on top.
Danger
8 Elladonna (Bet Now: $5.50) is flying and commands respect. She has won two on the bounce, firstly at Nottingham before going to Salisbury where she tracked the speed before angling wider and she let down with purpose to win and win well, running decent tine. Good test here, but confident she can measure up.
Long Shot
2 There’s The Door (Bet Now: $17.00) is an improving type and a definite threat. She ran over 2400m at Ascot last time out where she had the suck run in transit. Quite one paced when asked but she stayed on and actually ran through the pain barrier in a good effort in defeat. Back in trip I find interesting but she will be strong late.
Back Me
4 Coto De Caza (Bet Now: $2.35) is the best on the card, and by some distance. There was a bit of depth to the field she lined up against at Beverley last start, but the arrogance of the win was something else. She was clicked up after sitting on speed and gee she just went through her gears and put the race to be in a matter of strides. She’s destined for better races than this. Good thing IMO.
Danger
11 Xanthe (Bet Now:
$SP.00) will welcome the drop in grade/depth. She was an impressive debut winner before going to the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot when near the speed on the far side section and although she was held late, she tried hard and didn’t disgrace herself at all in defeat. Good racing style, she’ll give a sight I am sure.
Long Shot
1 Baileys Jubilation (Bet Now: $9.50) is one to be entertained for exotics. She was on speed throughout at Lingfield last time in the small field but she was one of the first off the bit. That said, she found under pressure and was strong late in getting the job done. Will be near the front, will keep chipping away and is a first four contender.
Back Me
4 Alzahir (Bet Now: $27.00) is worth a throw at the stumps in the get out. Outclassed two back in the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot before going to York where he was a total forgive IMO. He was nearer the inside of the pack, which was the wrong part of the track, so forgive and forget the down the track effort. I think his best is more than good enough so at a price, happy to speck.
Danger
2 Billyjoh (Bet Now: $8.00) is on the quick back up after racing at Ascot on Saturday. He had a suck run in behind the speed before angling clear and presented to win but couldn’t quite finish the race off and was held late in the piece behind Northern Express. That was his first run in over a month so with room for improvement, he’s right in the mix.
Long Shot
1 Star Of Orion (Bet Now: $12.00) is six year old gelding that is first up and is dangerous. He hasn’t raced since October 13 at York when placing in a strong edition of the Autumn Mile. He is a horse who can sprint well on the fresh side, he has run well at the track/distance and will be strong late. Watch the market.
BEST BET: Race Six Number 4 Coto De Caza
NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 6 Rosallion
LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 4 Alzahir
