The University of Alabama at Birmingham has accomplished a milestone in the most recent round of the U.S. News & World 2025 Best Online Programs.
Several of the university’s online master’s degree programs received high rankings from the news organization.
The Collat School of Business’ online Master of Science degree in management information systems was ranked No. 3 out of online master’s programs in computer technology fields.
The university also received praise for its support of veterans and active-duty service members. US News & World Report said UAB’s bachelor’s and master’s programs do a good job with veterans’ tuition assistance and flexibility.

The Master of Engineering degree from the School of Engineering ranked at No. 49 among online graduate engineering programs, moved up three spots from the previous year and marked the first time being ranked in the top 50.
“I am proud to see a UAB online degree receive the university’s highest ranking ever from U.S. News & World Report,” UAB Provost Janet Woodruff-Borden said in a release. “Our programs and degrees continue to be recognized, and it shows how dedicated our distinguished faculty are to provide a world-class education to our students who are both on-campus and learning virtually across the globe.”
UAB’s online programs follow the same curriculum and are taught by the same professors. Students are able to receive the UAB experience from the comfort of their homes on a schedule that works best for them.
UAB Online offers 12 online undergraduate programs, 34 online graduate programs, 15 online undergraduate minor programs and 55 online undergraduate and graduate certificate programs.
