15 Superhero (Bet Now: $3.10) looks the one to beat for Neasham/Archibald. He ran here three weeks ago where he was a tad keen in the run but that said, I thought he had his chance when third to Run Lucy Run. If he can produce better racing manners, I think class/quality gets him home.

7 Boom Shot (Bet Now: $4.00) is knocking on the door. He ran over 1400m here a fortnight back where he got a fair way out of his ground but he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat behind Zoology. Back to 1300m and firmer footing should be fine and is one of the hardest to beat.

Long Shot

14 One Beat No Beat (Bet Now: $13.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. Matty Dunn trained mare that resumed over 1200m here behind Mixed Signals where she got a fair way out of her ground but liked the way she finished her race off in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, firmer footing, she’s a big improver.

4 Lockyer (Bet Now: $4.50) is the best horse in the race I feel. Just needs to behave himself. He wanted to show off he was a colt last start and it took away something from his finale when a close up fifth. If he does everything right, he takes beating against these I say.

5 Formula Rossa (Bet Now: $10.00) is a key threat. Tony Gollan trained filly that won over this track/distance a few weeks back. She lobbed outside the speed from the gate and looked the winner a fair way out. That said, she had somewhat of a struggle but got there in the end. She has that 1200m run under the belt, which holds her in good stead.

Long Shot

3 Brazen Sailor (Bet Now: $27.00) is a definite winning chance. He was a sharp debut winner at the Gold Coast before going to Ipswich and 1100m where he got back and made up good ground late in the piece. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he’s dangerous against these.

7 Metcalfe (Bet Now: $14.00) is a horse I have always had time for. I want to be very forgiving of his effort in the Grand Prix where he found a bog track and couldn’t quite pick up. Firmer deck and the rise to 2100m helps his cause and I think is a decent enough price to find out.

Danger

1 Beau Dazzler (Bet Now: $3.00) was a dominant winner of the Grand Prix and yes, he may have handled the wet track best, but he made a mess of them late in the piece. If the 2100m on firmer footing is fine, then he rates highly.

Long Shot

9 Wowzino (Bet Now: $10.00) should appreciate firmer footing and his best is good enough to threaten. He comes through the Grand Prix where he got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but couldn’t quite let down in the going. I think he’s a definite first four threat.

I am going to take a chance with 8 Lionel (Bet Now: $7.00), who was with Ciaron Maher but now finds himself with Team Hulbert. He is better suited over a bit further but he does have a bit of class/quality on his side and I really liked the way he moved in a recent trial albeit he ran last. First up at 1800m tells me there is intent and at the price, happy to find out.

10 Iverson (Bet Now: $5.50) is racing like a rise to 1800m suits. He ran over the mile here last time out on testing ground and found the line well enough in defeat but for mine, he just got a bit too far out of his ground behind Queen Air. Think with a more positive ride, he takes beating.

Long Shot

4 Wairere Falls (Bet Now: $16.00) isn’t the most reliable horse when it comes to greeting the judge first but he is generally consistent and around the mark. He ran several weeks ago at Doomben over the mile and just got bogged down by the wet track when beaten a fair way by Poetic Drama. Firmer deck, bigger track, he’s a definite improver.

4 Metalart (Bet Now: $2.35) is several weeks between runs since racing over 1350m at Doomben where he was a short priced favourite and looked all over a winner when presented but he half turned it up I thought when second to on speed winner Ovidius. Back to 1200m, I think, is ideal, and he should appreciate firmer footing.

19 Bohemian Lad (Bet Now: $3.60) looks suited up to 1200m after resuming over 1000m here on testing ground where he got back but closed off strongly when second to Find Your Own. Better set up here, he takes beating.

Long Shot

8 Pervade (Bet Now: $71.00) gets Blinkers back on and can be an improver at odds. He ran at the midweeks at Doomben last time and was a bit on the plain side behind Zelgaria, so hopefully with the Blinkers back on, the ph can sharpen him up and he can run a much improved race.

1 Revolutionary Miss (Bet Now: $9.00) looks a big price here I feel given she has a clear class edge on her rivals. She hasn’t raced since the Empire Rose where she found 1600m a bridge too far and keep in mind she raced without cover, which was suicide for Derby Day. Tick over trial win was sharp and she does appear best suited to 1200m-1400m. Keen.

2 Abounding (Bet Now: $8.50) is a quality mare for Rob Heathcoate that looks to be right on track towards the Magic Millions. She resumed with a bang at Doomben, giving them a start and a beating to win the Tatts Classic. Fitter, she’s hard to beat.

Long Shot

7 Midnight In Tokyo (Bet Now: $18.00) is one that can be entertained as a knockout hope. She comes through the Lough Neagh where she found a bottomless deck and couldn’t pick her feet up late in the piece behind Cifrado. Better suited here on a firmer deck, I am not dismissing her.

7 Give Me Space (Bet Now: $16.00) has an engine under the hood and I think he can measure up here. He ran over 1400m here three weeks ago where things didn’t exactly fall into place for him, and perhaps was ridden a touch warm, behind Run Lucy Run. I think with a more patient steer, genuine tempo in front, he can launch over the top.

3 Catoggio (Bet Now: $7.00) comes here with fresh legs for GaiBott, having not raced since Nov 16 at Caulfield in the Blue Sapphire when luckless behind tired runners but that said, not sure he was beating impressive winner Pisces. Tick over trial was good and with clear air, he takes beating here.

Long Shot

12 Zoubaby (Bet Now: $5.50) is a key chance. Team Freedman trained filly that won the Midway at Randwick last time where she was absolutely trucking in the run and once Tommy Berry asked for the effort, away she went and she was dominant. Good test here, but think she measures up.

Back Me

5 Strait Acer (Bet Now: $14.00) looks a big price for mine and happy to be on each way. He comes through the Lough Neagh where he wasn’t 100% happy on the wet ground but he kept finding the line and was good in defeat behind Cifrado. Up to 1400m, firmer footing, kind map, I think he only runs well.

3 Tamerlane (Bet Now: $12.00) is dangerous. He comes through the Kevin Heffernan at Caulfield where he found a bottomless deck and couldn’t pick his feet up late in the piece when down the track behind Welwal. Tick over trial was good to keep him up to the mark and on a dry track, he can bounce back hard.

Long Shot

9 Zoology (Bet Now: $20.00) has found winning form…can he go on with it? That win came over this track/distance on a bog where he looked a good thing after scratchings and duly saluted to win and win well. His confidence is up and his best is more than good enough to take this out.

7 Red Top (Bet Now: $17.00) looks the map horse and is racing like 2100m is ideal. He ran over 1800m two weeks ago and closed off strongly from off the speed but found one better in a Stakes class horse, Loch Eagle. The rise in trip should suit and he draws to stalk likely leader Zoumon. Hard to beat.

12 Queen Air (Bet Now: $5.50) jumps sharply to 2100m from the mile but Tony Gollan has her humming. She won over the mile here a fortnight back, giving them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on. She’ll love 2100m…where she loves this now, not sure, but hard to knock the way she’s racing.

Long Shot

11 Regal Lion (Bet Now: $23.00) is dangerous with his best. He comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Hunter Day at Newcastle when down the track behind Townsend but just found the 1850m and the track shape/race pattern not to his liking. Better set up here, he’s an improver at odds.

Keen to be with 2 Steady Ready (Bet Now: $5.00), who resumed in the Swiss Ace several weeks ago at the Sunny Coast where I was quite keen on his chances but he just found the wet track not to his liking so I am going to be forgiving. Loves dry ground, track/distance winner and trialled like a rocket prior.

3 Tiger Shark (Bet Now: $7.00) should be suited here. She comes through the Bribie from several weeks back when on speed and tried hard but just lacked the class/quality to go with them late in the piece, but far from disgraced in defeat I thought behind Golden Boom. Dangerous with her best.

Long Shot

11 Reliable Ruby (Bet Now: $46.00) is a short course specialist so she is suited here and capable. She ran over 1000m at the Sunny Coast last time where she got a fair way out of her ground and was never a factor when running last behind Lost In Transit. Ran well at this track/distance the start prior, she’s a must for exotics.

BEST BET: Race Five Number 4 Metalart

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 1 Revolutionary Miss

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 5 Strait Acer
