This guy ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when dragged back from the wide gate and while he was never a winning threat, he closed off with real purpose in a good effort to finish fourth. Back to Class 5 grade and has a gate to settle much closer. Hard to beat.

2 Winning Heart (Bet Now: $7.50) is knocking on the door to win for Tony Cruz. Three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot off the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when second to Good View Glory. Tricky gate, but commands respect.

Long Shot

6 Wood On Fire (Bet Now: $16.00) comes here with fresh legs. This nine year old hasn’t raced since Nov 27 over this track/distance where he used the inside gate to advantage to settle near the speed and tried hard but had to settle for a close up fourth. If he can overcome the draw, he’ll be around the mark.

5 Ka Ying Resilience (Bet Now: $2.35) should win if he handles Happy Valley. Son of Blue Point for David Hayes that resumed over this trip at Sha Tin down the straight when trying hard from on speed but just found one better in Alluring Laos. Back to a bending track, fitter, sharp tick over trial…I think good luck beating him.

1 Lean Master (Bet Now: $5.00) is racing very well at the moment and commands some level of respect. He ran over this track/distance three weeks ago and chased strongly from off the speed but couldn’t quite finish off quick enough and win when second to Sergeant Pepper. Maps ideally, hard to beat.

Long Shot

7 Club Ace (Bet Now: $9.50) is a son of Toronado that is on debut for John Size. This guy has had extensive trial work to get ready for start one, and while they haven’t been anything to jump up and down about, he is in a good camp and Bowman is booked, so watch the market.

5 Noisy Boy (Bet Now: $7.00) is here and I dare say it’s D-Day if connections have Derby aspirations. He showed really good promise in NSW when trained by Todd Howlett but was sent to Hong Kong, with the Derby in mind. He ran over the mile here two weeks ago where he got too far back but I did like the way he finished his race off in defeat. Like him up in trip and good lead that Purton is booked.

3 Rocket Spade (Bet Now: $3.90) is racing like 2200m will suit. He hasn’t raced since Nov 27 over 1800m when giving them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on and was quite impressive in the run to the line. Tick over trial was good and although he’ll get back, he should be strong late.

Long Shot

8 Sharpen Bright (Bet Now: $3.70) tends to save his best for this track/distance so he commands respect. He ran fourth to Rocket Spade in the race mentioned above. He got off speed and drove hard late but just couldn’t quite get there when a close up fourth. The rise in trip is ideal and has upside.

5 Northern Fire Ball (Bet Now: $2.60) should take a power of beating here for Jamie Richards. This guy comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Nov 27 at this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and giving a strong kick from the front but couldn’t quite see it through and was run down late. Freshened up and really liked his tick over trial. Keen on his prospects.

9 Telecom Power (Bet Now: $4.80) is a key threat. He ran in a different track/distance race the same meeting from mentioned above. He closed off strongly to run second in his race and the overall time was faster vs the race mentioned above, so that is a tick for this guy, and he maps ideally.

Long Shot

2 Prime Mortar (Bet Now: $8.50) will land on the bunny and give a sight. That was the case three weeks back at this track/distance when leading and giving a strong kick from the front but couldn’t quite see it through when fourth to Smart Fighter. If he gets front end control, he’ll run a positive race at odds.

4 Turin Warrior (Bet Now: $8.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. Four weeks between runs since a track/distance win, helped by a 12/10 from Purton, who sliced his way through the field and finished best to score. Tricky draw, but off last, he has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat in what looks a winnable race.

2 Viva Graciousness (Bet Now: $3.40) will land on speed and run a bold race. He did that at this track/distance on Nov 20, five weeks ago, leading throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. If he gets a cheap lead, he’ll take running down.

Long Shot

5 Silver King (Bet Now: $18.00) comes through the Turin Warrior race mentioned above. He got off speed from the good draw and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job. Tricky gate to overcome, but with luck, he can threaten at odds.

3 View Of The World (Bet Now: $3.00) to bounce back. He hasn’t raced since Nov 17 at Sha Tin over 1400m when off speed and kept chasing without threatening but the winner of the race, Markwin, looks a potential star and a Derby contender, so that form clearly reads well for this. Happy to be in his corner.

4 Top Time (Bet Now: $4.40) looks a three year old heading in the right direction. He has been strong in two career outings, catching the eye on debut at Sha Tin before going here when back in the run but launched late when beaten a lip by Circuit Duffy. If he can be within range, he has the finale to be quite dangerous.

Long Shot

1 Sky Forever (Bet Now: $10.00) drops to Class 4 company after racing at Class 3 level. Latest run came over 1200m at Sha Tin in what looked a strong race and he just didn’t quite measure up behind Swift Ascend. Good track/distance record, not dismissing him.

5 Corleone (Bet Now: $3.80) looks ready to win for John Size. He ran three weeks ago at this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and giving a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through and felt the pinch late when second to Youth Power. If he gets front end control, he’ll take running down.

3 Prince Alex (Bet Now: $6.00) is flying for Douglas Whyte. He has won two on the bounce, both at this track/distance. Latest win was three weeks ago when given a peach steer by J Mac and he was quite dominant late in the piece. Maps perfect and hard to knock the way he’s racing.

Long Shot

2 Happy Universe (Bet Now: $34.00) ran down the track in the Youth Power race mentioned above. He got back to near last in the run from the wide gate and was never a factor. Didn’t think he was too bad first up behind Markwin at Sha Tin so keen to see how he goes here.

8 The Azure (Bet Now: $4.40) has found winning form and he can go on with it for Frankie Lor. Track/distance winner from three weeks ago. I thought the win was impressive because the race was there to be won, he had to dig in and he did under Purton, lifting late to score. He’s found winning form, he can win again.

2 Lucky Touch (Bet Now: $8.50) is dangerous here. He ran fourth three weeks ago at this track/distance. He got back in the run and while he was never really a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was quite good in defeat. Drag into the race, he can win for sure.

Long Shot

10 Amazing Award (Bet Now: $15.00) comes here with fresh legs for David Eustace, having not raced since Nov 27 at this track/distance when back near last in the run and made up decent headway without threatening behind Turin Warrior. He is a horse who tends to gets back but if he can settle closer, or get a drag into the race, he can take this out.

He has won two on the bounce, the latest being on Nov 27 when giving them a start and a beating, like he did the start prior in impression fashion. Tick over trial was good and if he can use the inside gate to advantage, he only runs well.

4 Aurora Lady (Bet Now: $5.50) is in form and strikes a winnable race. Great ride from Barzalona saw him win three weeks ago, getting into a decent spot from the wide gate and was much too good for them in an impressive display. Good track/distance record, he rates highly.

Long Shot

1 Nordic Dragon (Bet Now: $11.00) is an interesting runner. Danny Shum trained gelding that hasn’t raced since Nov 6 over this track/distance when back near last from the wide gate and was never really a factor behind Brave Star. Blinkers come off and the two tick over trials to get ready for this has been quite good.

4 Romantic Laos (Bet Now: $10.00) is worth a throw at the stumps in the get out. This guy hasn’t raced for three weeks since racing at this track/distance. He got back from the wide gate and couldn’t quite get involved when down the track behind Soleil Fighter. Gets in well after the claim and if the inside gate can be used to advantage, he only runs well.

5 Soleil Fighter (Bet Now: $4.20) won that race mentioned above, with Hollie Doyle using the inside gate to advantage and finished best to win and win well. They rode him a touch more quiet there and the end result was an impressive win so keen to see how he goes here.

Long Shot

3 M Unicorn (Bet Now: $10.00) ran fourth behind Soleil Fighter in the race mentioned above. He got back off the speed and worked to the line well enough in defeat I thought to be beaten 1.3L. If he can overcome the tricky gate, he can threaten.
