Among the position groups on the field at the NFL combine on Saturday are the wide receivers. While this may not be a top need for the Jacksonville Jaguars, it is a position we very well could see GM James Gladstone address.
“I think it starts with the protection,” said Gladstone at the NFL combine. “Making sure that he feels like he’s got as much time to work with as possible and also making sure that he’s comfortable with the pass catchers, and I think through that lens he’s going to feel that change in both the operation schematically and the personnel we invite into the building.”
Injuries were certainly a factor last season, but the discrepancy in receiving yards between Brian Thomas and the Jaguars‘ second leading receiver was the largest in football.
We also don’t know at this time if Christian Kirk or Evan Engram, two potential cut candidates, will be on the roster in 2025. Moving on from even one of those players greatly heightens the need for Jacksonville to add to this position group.
The Jaguars have met with Arizona’s Tetairo McMillan, who is considered by many the top receiver in this year’s class. McMillan will not be participating in the on-field events.
To what degree Gladstone plans to add to the receiver position remains to be seen, and that answer won’t become more clear until we see what happens in free agency. With 10 draft picks, the Jaguars have the flexibility to go in a variety of directions come April.
But nonetheless, with help from PFF, here are some draft prospects to watch for on Saturday, broken up by their big board ranking:
