Two thousand twenty-four? I hardly knew her.
Now that the bad joke is aside, we’re already arriving at the end of another year, my second full one for me as the staff photographer at The Mercury. I’ll admit, it’s crazy that I’ve already been here two years.
Time flies when you’re having fun, the saying goes. I’ve most certainly had fun being here. Being able to have a front row seat of covering annual events or breaking news, and the sports scene — whether it is high school or college athletics — never gets old. It really never does.
Yes, I am having fun, but I am documenting our slice of life in the process. That’s what myself and other photojournalists at newspapers in the country and around the world have done and will continue to do.
The year 2025 is right around the corner. While it may seem intimidating at first, it’s a great way to start fresh.
Happy new year to you fellow northeast Kansans.
