$SP.00) ran third in the race mentioned above. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through, tiring late in the piece. Maps ideally and was a month between runs last time so he has room for improvement.

$SP.00) is dangerous at odds. He ran over 1400m here last time where he got a fair way off the speed and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and was pretty good in defeat I thought. He was several weeks between runs there so like him up to 1600m and has an inside gate to use.

$SP.00) is a key threat. He ran over this track/distance last time out when getting a fair way out of his ground but worked home with purpose when fourth to Sky Joy, beaten under a length. If he can settle closer and be within range, he takes beating.

$SP.00) is a son of Wrote that is on debut for Danny Shum. This guy has had extensive trial work in readiness for start one and has steadily got better each time. Maps to get a decent run and has a strong rider in Tom Marquand to steer. One for exotics.

$SP.00) has to translate his form to a bending track vs the straight course but he looks a good mover for David Hall. He was a short priced favourite when debuting here on Australia Day, sitting near the speed before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. If he can overcome the tricky gate, he takes beating.

$SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m here last time when doing early work in the run and just tired late in the piece. Back to 1200m does look a positive and I think with a more conservative steer, he can run an improved race at odds.

$SP.00) has a good track/distance record so don’t dismiss him. Latest run was Jan 5 down the straight here over 1000m when down the track, just finding them too sharp. The rise in trip I do like for him and his best is good enough to be dangerous.

$SP.00) is a son of Contributer that debuts for Danny Shum. He has had a couple of trials to get ready for start one. He looked terrible in the first one but showed vast improvement in the second trial and you do have to respect the stable when it comes to first starters.

Son of Charm Spirit that has been a real model of consistency in recent times, his latest run being at this track/distance on Jan 5 when leading and giving a strong kick from the front but just felt the pinch late in the piece. Tick over trial was good, he has a good racing style and strikes a winnable race.

$SP.00) debuted here and was quite good in defeat before going to Happy Valley for his next two runs, the latest run seeing him win over 1200m and was strong to the line suggesting a rise to 1400m will suit, and he has upside/scope.

$SP.00) is an improver at odds. This colt debuted at this track/distance back on Dec 22 when raw and new to the caper, failing to fire when down the track behind Ka Ying Attack. Given a mini break and I thought his recent tick over trial was pretty good, so keen to see how he goes.

$SP.00) is one to be entertained for exotics. He ran over this trip at Happy Valley when landing on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through, feeling the pinch late in the piece. I think with a more patient steer, he can threaten and win.

He contested the Classic Mile where he got back to near last in the run and was never really a factor when down the track behind My Wish. $SP.00) is the key and I dare say only threat. He comes through the Classic Mile as well. He was a big price and got into a decent off speed but just whacked to the line and ran like the market said he would. Tricky draw, but I do think 1800m suits and this isn’t a deep contest.

$SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Former Irish stayer that makes his Hong Kong debut. I find him interesting given his form is at 2400m+, and there isn’t many races over that trip in Hong Kong. His recent trial over the mile was quite good though and the form around him is strong.

$SP.00) is a definite winning chance. He ran over this track/distance last start behind Fast Responder in the race mentioned above. He got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he did find the line strongly in defeat. If within range, he has the finale to be dangerous.

$SP.00) on top. He is a few weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance in a strong Class 2 and didn’t disgrace himself in defeat at all behind the then in form Raging Blizzard. $SP.00) looks to have returned really well and is one of the key chances. He resumed at this track/distance when getting the beaut run in transit just off the speed and under a lovely ride from Poon, he was too good. Good upside to come, he’s in the mix.

$SP.00) comes back to 1200m after contesting the Classic Mile where he was outclassed on paper and the 1600m at that level was a bridge too far. Much better suited at 1200m at this level, he’s an improver at odds.
