1 Freedom Rally (Bet Now: $2.00) looks to have a bit on these. Tony Gollan trained gelding that has done a super job without winning this time in, his latest run being the Kingsford Smith when ridden with intent and fought on so gamely in defeat when fourth to I Wish I Win. Up to the mile is ideal, J Mac on…all things equal, he should be winning.
Danger
7 Poison Chalice (Bet Now: $8.00) is a definite threat. He was 1200m to 1600m when racing here a fortnight back. He got a fair way out of his ground but really liked his finale late, just missing out on the win when a narrow third to Sunset Soiree. He has that 1600m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead here.
Long Shot
I want to back something for a place at odds and that horse is 3 Charterhouse (Bet Now: $12.00), who is second up here for Ciaron Maher and does have a touch of quality about him when right. I thought he was quite good in defeat in the Scone Cup, getting badly held up at times before eventually finding clear and was good late. Think he only runs well.

The dry track should be fine for 5 Pereille (Bet Now: $2.10) and with that, I am quite keen on his chances. Arrogant first up win at the Sunny Coast and his tick over trial win at Hawkesbury was a lovely piece of work. The stable are the best when it comes to placing these runners and finding a Stakes race, the example being Vilana last weekend. Confident they do it here with this guy and keen to play.
Danger
6 Go Wandji (Bet Now: $21.00) should love getting to 1200m for Tom Dougall. He ran three weeks ago in the Chief De Beers at Doomben where he just found them a tad sharp over the 1110m but his finale was more than sound in defeat behind Golden Boom. 1200m, bigger track, hard fit, firmer deck, he appeals as a key winning chance.
Long Shot
13 Willinga Beast (Bet Now: $8.50) has the engine under the hood to measure up. Kris Lees trained mare that comes through the Chief De Beers at Doomben where she got back to near last in the run and did make up good ground without threatening behind Golden Boom, beaten 2.3L. Doesn’t win out of turn but does have a touch of class/quality.

I just can’t ignore the price of 5 Depth Of Character (Bet Now: $11.00), an Annabel Neasham trained juvenile. Not sure what he beat on debut at Canterbury, but the way he let down and put them away to win…he looks a really good prospect and given he is a colt, you’d assume they would try and win a Stakes race with him. Keen to see how he goes.
Danger
6 Megastar Heart (Bet Now: $7.00) looks better suited here for Annabel Neasham. Thrown in the deep end a fortnight back in the BRC Sires and while far from disgraced, he was outclassed behind Broadsiding. The win prior on the Kenso was quite good and that effort would see him go close in a race like this.
Long Shot
Stephen Jones has declared 8 Don’t Forget Jack (Bet Now: $5.00) as the best horse he has put a saddle on so you have to respect a statement like that with a juvenile. 2/2 to start his career and both wins have been dynamic, the latest at Doomben where he gapped his rivals and was quite dominant late. Good test here, but confident he measures up.

3 Selino (Bet Now: $9.00) each way for me. Chris Waller trained former Sydney Cup winner that comes through the Premiers Cup where he just found the 2400m too sharp and while he was never a winning threat, his finale wasn’t too bad in defeat I thought. He’ll love getting to two miles and he is a dry tracker, so with conditions to suit, he’s a big improver.
Danger
1 Knights Order (Bet Now: $23.00) is a proven two mile performer and will land on speed. He comes through the Premiers Cup from a fortnight back where he probably did a bit too much work on speed and that early burn just told late in the piece, finishing down the track behind Hezashocka. If he finds the front and gets complete control, class will carry him a long way.
Long Shot
10 Casual Connection (Bet Now: $27.00) is a hard horse to catch at times but he’s found winning and will just keep chipping away, which was the case three weeks back at Randwick over 2400m, being down in the weights and he just kept lifting late when it mattered to win, just. If this becomes a slog, he’ll be there just whacking away and a win wouldn’t totally shock.

Keen to see how 13 Miss Aria (Bet Now:
$SP.00) goes for Danny O’Brien. Her last couple of wins in Melbourne have been outstanding, especially at Sandown last time where she gave them a start, a beating, and clocked outstanding late splits in winning. The way she attacks the line, 1600m should be fine, she has change up speed and is the fresh blood.
Danger
1 Chrysaor (Bet Now: $9.50) looks like he will eat up the rise to the mile for Chris Waller. Close up in defeat fresh behind Amur before going to the Fred Best where he was one of the eye catchers of the race the way he found the line late in the piece behind Roll On High. Third up and hard fit, rising to the mile, he’s going to take holding out.
Long Shot
4 Snow Patrol (Bet Now: $19.00) should appreciate getting to 1600m. Price/Kent trained three year old that resumed in the Fred Best two weeks back over 1400m. He got back to near last in the run and did make up ground without threatening behind Roll On High. Much better set up here and dangerous if he can settle closer in the run.

1 Broadsiding (Bet Now: $1.70) looks the most obvious. James Cummings trained juvenile that won the Champagne at Randwick before being given a let up and racing in the BRC Sires two weeks ago where he gave them a start and a beating, launching late to finish over the top for a big, big win. He’s got room for improvement, up to the mile, class…could be a case of good luck beating him.
Danger
I am not dismissing 5 Can’t Recall One (Bet Now: $81.00). He resumed in the BRC Sires off an unusual set up where he had his third trial for the prep on the Tuesday before backing up a few days later in the Sires where he got back to last, was flat footed, but I didn’t mind his finale. I think he’ll be a far better horse on firmer footing, he’s been set for the race…he’s the clear overs.
Long Shot
8 Bosustow (Bet Now: $35.00) is a juvenile that has always shown talent for Annabel Neasham and he comes into this off the back of a maiden win at Doomben last Wednesday where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted. He has the engine under the hood to measure up I feel…I don’t think I could back him to win but is one to be entertained for exotics.

3 Comrade Rosa (Bet Now: $13.00) is a big, big improver for Tony Gollan. Market binned her two weeks back in the Helen Coughlan due to the wet track and while she was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind her race in defeat behind Chinny Boom, also keeping in mind it was her first run in five weeks. Good room for improvement, firmer deck…happy to back each way.
Danger
6 Coeur Volante (Bet Now: $5.50) looks to be ticking along beautifully towards the Tatts Tiara. She was backed with confidence when resuming in the Helen Coughlan two weeks ago. She just got too far back in a leader dominated race but really liked the way she finished her race off behind Chinny Boom. Fitter and up in trip, can settle much closer…takes beating big time.
Long Shot
16 Willinga Beast (Bet Now:
$SP.00) has the engine under the hood to measure up. Kris Lees trained mare that comes through the Chief De Beers at Doomben where she got back to near last in the run and did make up good ground without threatening behind Golden Boom, beaten 2.3L. Doesn’t win out of turn but does have a touch of class/quality.

I am going each way in the shape of Tassie raider 9 The Inevitable (Bet Now: $21.00). He resumed three weeks ago in the BRC Sprint at Doomben where he got back to near last in the run from the wide gate and while he was never threatening, he did make up good ground and was enormous in defeat behind Here To Shock. Fitter and up to 1400m, firmer deck, bigger track, tumbles in weight…only runs well.
Danger
17 Stefi Magnetica (Bet Now: $12.00) is flying for Bjorn Baker and has to be respected. She resumed with a blinder in the 10,000 behind Bella Nipotina before going to the Fred Best where she had to make her run nearer the inside and that just took away her finale I thought when third to Roll On High. Right down in the weights, third up and hard fit, she appeals big time.
Long Shot
I am not going to put a line through 12 Osipenko (Bet Now: $27.00). He resumed two weeks back in the Kingsford Smith where he was right nearer the inside, quicksand, and was never really a factor in what was pretty much a barrier trial behind I Wish I Win. Much better set up here, tumbles in weight…I think he can run a big race at a price.

I reckon the best each way gamble on the program comes here in the shape of 18 Amokura (Bet Now: $18.00). Horror set up leading into the Doomben Cup but gee I loved her run, closing off with purpose late. Her late splits were excellent, just knocking up late in the piece. Much better set up leading into this, firmer deck, back to Eagle Farm, has upside/improvement…great each way gamble.
Danger
13 Hezashocka (Bet Now: $10.00) is flying for Price/Kent and has to be respected. He was far from disgraced in the Doomben Cup before backing up a week later in the Premiers Cup where the market liked him late and under a confident steer from J Kah, class kicked in late and he was too good. Back to 2200m should be fine, hard fit and in form, he appeals.
Long Shot
16 Converge (Bet Now: $31.00) hasn’t won in forever but he could be back on track after the Lord Mayors Cup, where he was quite good against the race shape, finding the line with purpose to run second to all the way winner Just Folk. Up in trip should be fine and now he’s found positive form, he can build off it.
BEST BET: Race Two Number 5 Pereille
