Night racing returns to Canterbury this Friday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

I thought 10 Call Me Mojo (Bet Now: $12.00) represented good value here in the opener. He debuted on July 17 on the Kenso when down the track behind subsequent Stakes performer Clear Proof, but had trialled well prior and has trialled super in readiness for this prep so each way, he’s the way I’m going.
Danger
1 Point And Shoot (Bet Now: $3.80) is a nice horse for Bjorn Baker that resumes. He returns to racing as a gelding after a three run prep as a juvenile where he showed good talent without winning. Trialled up like a rocket for the return. Just needs luck from the tricky gate.
Long Shot
7 Secure (Bet Now: $6.50) is a well bred son of Snitzel that is on debut for Chris Waller and he could be an omen bet given he is out of former top mare Response, who won the Sir Rupert Clarke years ago. This guy has moved well in trial work so I’d watch the market and see what it does.

2 Kotaishi (Bet Now: $3.20) seems the straight bat play here. Ciaron Maher trained gelding that hasn’t had the rub of the green in both runs back, whether it be getting held up, checked, wet ground, he’s had excuses. Blinkers are on, he maps to settle handy and prove hard to beat.
Danger
10 Zan (Bet Now: $3.40) has been strong in two runs back, being runner up each time, and rates as one of the leading contenders here. Both runs have come at Kembla where she has tried hard but has just found one better. Hard fit, maps perfect, I say she commands respect.
Long Shot
1 Altair I Am (Bet Now: $6.00) is a definite winning chance here. He resumed over 1300m at Hawkesbury where he got back to near last in the run but I really liked the way he closed his race off in defeat to run second. Fitter and up in trip, he’s a key chance.

12 Regimental Colours (Bet Now: $3.30) gets the nod. Very well bred filly on debut being out of former star mare Regimental Gal so she has a bit to live up to and her trial work indicates she has ability because she has looked impressive. Looks ready to go, maps well and gets Nash. Like her.
Danger
5 Alinea (Bet Now: $8.00) is dangerous if this track is playing up/in. She resumed over 1000m at Hawkesbury where the late market drift suggested she may need the run and that’s how it panned out, leading and just feeling the pinch late. Better for the run, should lead and take catching.
Long Shot
3 Hyperbolic (Bet Now: $14.00) is a daughter of Proisir that resumes for Brad Widdup. She had a two run prep in the Winter to start her career, the latest seeing her run fourth to Wanaruah, a Stakes performer. Trial work has been encouraging and she should be strong at the end.

3 Cheval Savant (Bet Now: $4.20) looks the map horse and there appears to be intent. Good return at Newcastle then raced a touch flat last start on the Kenso so he’s hard fit now, Nash rides, Blinkers go on and he maps to land box seat and get every chance. Like his chances here.
Danger
6 Persian Dancer (Bet Now: $6.50) is flying for Gary Colvin and has earned a crack at mates level after a spank job win at Wagga last time out, which followed a strong effort in the Cootamundra Cup. Right down in the weights, good racing style, hard to beat.
Long Shot
2 Celestial Fury (Bet Now: $6.50) looks the leader if they want to use the inside gate to advantage. He has been getting off speed in recent runs and hasn’t been too bad but IMO he’s a far better horse when ridden with intent hence why I think they have put Tim Clark on. If that eventuates, he can win for sure.

2 Captain Amelia (Bet Now: $5.00) looks to have returned really well for O’Shea/Charlton and should appreciate a rise in trip after resuming over 1100m on the Kenso where she got back in the run and worked home well without threatening when fourth. Better for the run under the belt, can settle closer in the run and be effective late.
Danger
1 How Dare You (Bet Now: $6.00) is a daughter of Zoustar for James Cummings that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since July 24 over this track/distance when down the track behind No Drama, looking a tired horse. Given a good break, has trialled well for the return and the depth here isn’t deep.
Long Shot
4 Gai’s Artist (Bet Now: $14.00) looks suited back in trip for Ryan/Alexiou after racing over 1400m on the Kenso last time when on speed and she tried hard but she found the seven furlongs a bridge too far. Proven at the track/distance, a leading chance if there is petrol left in the tank.

6 Kerguelen (Bet Now: $2.20) has lengths on these if he’s ready to go, and the trials indicate he’s ready to go for James Cummings. His last run came on July 27 at Randwick on a bog when a narrow second to Invader Zim in what looked a good race. Given the good break and he has hummed in a couple of trials. Good luck beating him I say.
Danger
8 Eye Of The Fire (Bet Now: $4.60) is a Neasham/Archibald trained gelding that resumes. He was last seen on June 29 at Rosehill when placing behind In Flight, who was flying at the time. Trialled up really well for the return and if he can overcome the tricky gate, he’ll run a positive race fresh.
Long Shot
2 Port Albert (Bet Now:
$SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Nick Ryan, having not raced since Moonee Valley Cup Night when finishing best to win over 955m, driving hard late. Interesting placement from the stable but if he does run here, then I say his best is good enough to be a threat.

6 Lancaster Bomber (Bet Now: $4.80) doesn’t win out of turn but he saves his best for this track/distance and he strikes a winnable race. Richard Litt trained gelding that ran in a Midway at Randwick just under three weeks ago where he tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there behind Mad Darcey. Back to where he races best, kind map, like him here.
Danger
3 Union Army (Bet Now: $3.70) is a Ryan/Alexiou trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since August 10 when down the track and a bit on the plain side behind Willaidow. Two trials under the belt to get ready, maps to get a soft trip and with his best, gee he’s dangerous.
Long Shot
1 Jacenza (Bet Now: $10.00) is a definite winning chance. Rod Northam trained mare that ran in the Barn Dance on Cup Day and worked home strongly without threatening behind impressive winner Gallant Star. Gets in really well after the claim and she brings the right form to be a threat at odds.

7 Field Marshal (Bet Now: $4.20) on top in the last but not really a race I want to get involved in. He resumed over 1200m at Kembla where he got too far out of his ground but really liked the way he found the line late in the piece behind Zarni. The rise in trip looks ideal and he’ll be strong late.
Danger
3 Inquiring Minds (Bet Now: $3.90) is an interesting runner. O’Shea/Charlton trained galloper that resumes and returns to racing as a gelding. His last run was June 29 over 1800m at Rosehill when struggling on the heavy ground and was never really a factor behind Amberite. Given a good break, gelded, trialled well and fresh at 1550m signals some level of intent.
Long Shot
1 Farnborough (Bet Now: $15.00) is first up for Bjorn Baker after a late Autumn prep where he didn’t really fire a shot, with the campaign ending with a down the track effort over 1900m here behind Holstein. He has been gelded and has had three trials under the belt for the return, so watch the market.
